How to create a Couples package?
When setting up a couples package you have different ways you can set this up depending on how you want it to work.
To set up a Couples package you will need to head to Settings > Offering types > Packages > find the package/ create a package > edit > scroll to the "Guests" section > here you will see the "Couples" toggle...
Once "Couples" is toggled on then this will mean that this package will require two guests when booking internally or online! You will not be able to proceed with booking the package until 2 guests have been selected...
Once "Couples" is toggled on in package settings you then have the option to enable an additional toggle of "Allow separate choices" which will only impact the behaviour for non-couples appointment choices within the couples package. This allows you to choose if you want guests to be able to select their own options for non-couples appointments. The appointment package choice behaviour for couples packages will be explained below.
Behaviour for Area bookings/ sessions/ products choices within a couples package:
If you have area bookings/ sessions/ products as a choice within a 'Couples' package then when booked it will automatically add the area booking/ session/ product twice for 2 guests if 'couples' is toggled on! You cannot select different options/ times for the guest for those type of offerings, all area bookings/ sessions/ products will be duplicated. As you can see the "Spa Facilities" (session type) and "Glass of Prosecco" (retail product) have duplicated...
Behaviour for Appointment choices within a couples package:
The toggle "Allow separate choices" and the type of appointment type (whether "couples" is toggled on or not for the individual appointment type) you have in your packages choice will impact how your couples package behaves for your appointment package choices.
View the scenarios below to see how the toggles will affect how your package choices are booked within the couples package.
Allow guests to select a non-couples appointment type that is booked twice
If you toggle on "Couples" and leave "Allow separate choices" toggled off...
And have non-couples appointments ("couples" is toggled off in the appointment type settings) as options within the package choice then this is how the appointment package choice will behave.
When you select an appointment it will duplicate the choice so will book the same appointment at the same time for both guests. As you can see 2 of the same appointments have been able to be booked in...
See the below gif showing the process of how you will not be able to select different appointments if you have set up the package in this particular way...
As you can see this is how it drops into Trybe...
Ensure guests select a couples appointment type
If you toggle on "Couples" and leave "Allow separate choices" toggled off...
And have couples appointments ("couples" is toggled on in the appointment type settings) as options within the package choice then this is how the appointment package choice will behave.
As you can see the appointment is listed once as it is a couples appointment so both guests are booked in for this, the guests cannot choose different options because it is a couples appointment so both guests are required...
As you can see, 2 practitioners have been assigned to the couples appointment within the couples package, this choice is not duplicated...
Allow guests to select different non-couples appointment types
If you toggle on "Couples" and toggle "Allow separate choices" on...
And have non-couples appointments ("couples" is toggled off in the appointment type settings) as options within the package choice then this is how the appointment package choice will behave.
This is the option (toggling on "allow separate choices") you should use if you want the 2 guests within a couples package to be able to choose different appointments if they like.
Please note "Allow separate choices" will allow each guest in the couples package to choose their own options for non-couples appointments. Couples appointments and all other offerings (sessions/ area bookings/ products) will not be affected by this toggle.
As you can see 2 different appointments have been able to be booked in at different times...
See gif showing the process of how you can select different appointments works...
As you can see this is how it then drops into Trybe...
As you can see above it doesn't differentiate which appointment is for which guest on the order overview, however, you will be able to see this by heading to the calendar view. On the calendar you can see the guest names and can hover over the appointment to see the specific appointment booked in for the guest...
Also on the schedule view you will be able to see the appointment with the name of the guest too...
