Practitioner selection on the shopfront

Choose to set up practitioner selection by name or by gender.

Written by Roxane Abrahams

You have the option to let customers choose their preferred practitioner or gender when booking an appointment on the shop front. By enabling the "Practitioner selection" within the appointment type settings page, customers can easily select who they’d like to see or the preferred gender of the practitioner, giving them more control and personalisation in the booking process.

Please note the practitioner selection applies to appointments when booked individually (outside of a package) and within a package. In both scenarios the customer will be able to select a specific practitioner/ gender for the appointment choice if the appointment is set up to do so. The practitioner selection feature WILL NOT apply to appointments that have "couples" enabled.

Follow the simple steps below to understand how to set this up and how this will be displayed online.

Activating the practitioner selection feature by name

If you would like to activate the feature so your customers can select a specific practitioner on the shopfront, this can be done under each of your appointments. All you will need to do is to go to Settings > Appointment types > Select an appointment > Scroll to "Shop settings" section > click on the "Practitioner selection" drop down > select "By name" ...

If you have an appointment with the couples feature enabled, the practitioner selection feature will not be able to be set.

Once this practitioner selection "By name" is activated, on the shop front your clients will be able to select from the following options when booking the appointment:

  • Any therapist: If the customer doesn't want to request a particular practitioner they can leave "any therapist" as it will then show the availability for all therapists not a specific one.

  • Specific practitioner's name: if the customer wants to be booked in with a particular practitioner they can select their requested practitioner from the drop down list.

The options will be displayed on the calendar with a drop-down option of all practitioners attached as allocated practitioners for that specific appointment type...

Every time you select a practitioner's name, the availability will be recalculated. The available days showing on the calendar will be updated based on the availability and rota of the practitioner.

Once the client selects "Add to order", if the client wants to change the practitioner selected and wants to scroll through time availability across all practitioners, they can do so by selecting the drop-down option and selecting another therapist...

Once the order is confirmed, if the specific practitioner has been selected then this is the practitioner that will be assigned to the appointment. If you want to make edits to appointment i.e. you/ the customer wants to change the practitioner that has been selected, you can use our drag-and-drop calendar option to change the practitioner or edit the appointment via the order.

Activating the practitioner selection feature by gender

If you would like to activate the feature so your customers can request a specific gender for the practitioner on the shopfront, this can be done under each of your appointments. All you will need to do is to go to Settings > Appointment types > Select an appointment > Scroll to "Shop settings" section > click on the "Practitioner selection" drop down > select "By gender" ...

If you have an appointment with the couples feature enabled, the practitioner selection feature will not be able to be set.

Once this practitioner selection "By gender" is activated, on the shop front your clients will be able to select from the following options when booking the appointment:

  • No preference: If the customer doesn't want to request a particular gender they can leave "no preference" as it will then show the availability for all therapists not only practitioners linked to that gender in the practitioner settings.

  • Female: If the customer wants to request a female practitioner they can select this, this will then only show practitioners that have gender set to "female" in the practitioner settings

  • Male: If the customer wants to request a male practitioner they can select this, this will then only show practitioners that have gender set to "male" in the practitioner settings

Once the client selects "Add to order", if the client wants to change the gender preference they can do so by selecting the drop-down option and selecting another gender or "no preference"...

Once the order is confirmed, if a specific gender has been requested then a practitioner linked to this gender will be assigned to the appointment. If you want to make edits to appointment i.e. you/ the customer wants to change their preference, you can use our drag-and-drop calendar option to change the practitioner or edit the appointment via the order.
