Applying a discount type/ promo code in app
In the app, both promo codes and discount types can be applied to an order.
Please note: Promo codes and discount types can be applied to the whole order, but only discounts types can be applied to individual items within an order.
To add a discount type to an individual item in the order select the three dots next to the item > add discount. (highlighted in yellow) Here you will then be able to choose from the discount types you have set up in your system that are 'ready to use'.
To add a promo code/ discount type to the overall order you will select 'Add discount' under the 'total cost' (highlighted in green). The pop up will then appear where you can choose either 'Promo code' or 'Discount type'. Depending on which one you choose you can then select the 'promo code' or 'discount type' from the drop down menu.
The selection of promo codes/ discount types will only be those that are ready for you, any that are not finished being set up/ have expired/ are archived will not appear. Once the code is selected, press 'Apply discount'. This will then apply to the order.
See in screenshot below, I applied a promo code that is only valid for the 'Hot stones massage' so the discount was only applied to that item and the 'Hot yoga' didn't get discounted.
The audit log will show when a discount/ promo code has been applied.
Applying a promo code on the shop front
On the shop front, once the customer has added everything to their basket and go to the check out there will be an option to 'Redeem a promo code'. If this is selected, the customer can enter in the code and 'Apply'.
As all promo codes are created in upper case, even if the customer does not have their caps lock on when they enter in the code it will automatically capitalise!
If the code is a valid code then the code will apply to the order. However, a message will appear stating 'This promo code is not valid for use' if the code is not usable (expired/ archived/ doesn't exist).
If a valid code is entered but there are no valid items in the order then it will show that the code has been applied to the order but no discount will be applied as there are no valid items.
If all items in the order are valid/ some valid items are valid then the discount will be applied to the applicable items. For example, in the screenshots below, only the Hot stones massage is valid, the Spa access is not a valid item for the promo so the discount is only applied to the hot stones. As you can see once the promo code is applied the order updates from £61 to £51. The hot stones is £40 and the 25% discount has been applied which take £10 off the overall order total.
In the confirmation email sent to the customer they will be able to see what code was applied to the order and how the % translates into a monetary amount (see below)
Please note: If the customer has auto-applied membership credits and they choose to apply a promo code, the promo code will take precedence over the credit.
